Weekly Rahu Kaal

In Vedic astrology, people often talk about Rahu Kaal, a specific time each day you should avoid. This 90-minute period has a reputation for being inauspicious. People believe that starting anything important during this time can bring bad luck or delays. They steer clear of things like signing important documents, beginning a new business venture, or even starting a long journey.

The concept of Rahu Kaal comes from the “shadow planet” Rahu. According to a mythological story, an asura named Svarbhanu tried to steal the nectar of immortality. The gods Surya and Chandra exposed him, and Lord Vishnu beheaded him. Since Svarbhanu had already consumed the nectar, his head became immortal and turned into Rahu. Rahu holds a grudge against the Sun and Moon, so he tries to swallow them, which causes eclipses. Astrologers believe that during Rahu Kaal, the negative influence of Rahu is at its strongest.

You can easily find the Rahu Kaal timings for your location by checking a local almanac or an online tool. These timings change every day because they depend on the time of sunrise and sunset. To calculate it, you divide the time between sunrise and sunset into eight equal parts. A specific part of the day, which rotates throughout the week, is always considered Rahu Kaal.

While the belief is strong, it’s important to remember that Rahu Kaal only applies to starting new activities. If you are already in the middle of a task, you can continue it without worrying. You can also perform remedies, like worshipping Lord Hanuman, to help mitigate any negative effects.
